The Minnesota State Bar Foundation is a foundation of the Minnesota State Bar Association and exists for the express purpose of providing monetary grants to community and bar law-related programs and activities. Areas of emphasis include legal assistance to the disadvantaged, improvements in the administration of justice and law-related education.
The Minnesota State Bar Foundation Turns 80!
In 1932, the Minnesota State Bar Association created the Minnesota State Bar Foundation as its charitable arm. 2012 celebrates 80 years of Foundation funding for legal assistance to the disadvantaged, improvements in the administration of justice, and law-related education throughout Minnesota.
The majority of our funds comes from the generosity of Minnesota’s attorneys. We are proud of our legal community’s impact on statewide legal issues, but we are acutely aware that we need to do more. From July 1, 2011 to June 1, 2012, the Foundation received 56 grant applications and we were able to fund only a quarter of those requests. The gap between need and funding is growing, and we too must grow our efforts to make a difference.
Minnesota’s legal community plays a vital role in impacting issues unique to our profession. As the Foundation celebrates its 80th year, we are asking the legal community to increase its investment in justice. We encourage you to make a year-end donation to the Foundation, and help us meet a goal of distributing $80,000 in funds in our 80th year.
Donations can be made online. A gift to the Foundation is a thoughtful way to support statewide, law-related philanthropy. Your gift can be made in honor of another attorney, or as a year-end thank you to a colleague or friend. All gifts are tax deductible as charitable contributions. If you prefer, you can also donate through giveMN.org at the following link: http://givemn.razoo.com/.
Please join us in this important effort.
