Cameras in the Appellate Courts
As the Minnesota bench and bar begin to revisit the issue of cameras in courtrooms it is worth noting that the Minnesota Supreme Court has instituted procedures that allow cameras to cover proceedings in both the Minnesota Supreme Court and the Minnesota Court of Appeals. The procedure, in essence, requires the media to simply provide 24 hours notice to the court of an intent to cover the proceeding. Counsel should be especially aware that under the procedures, it is not required that notice be given to the parties.
