Information for Employers

NEW: Notifications regarding summer employment matches have been sent via EMAIL on Friday, March 28, 2008. If you did not receive an email regarding this, please contact Ms. Tram Nguyen at the Minnesota State Bar Association offices

By participating, employers agree to accept a student match and to hire a clerkship program student for summer employment even if that student is not among the employer’s top choices. Employers agree to provide the same salary, work experience and social opportunities to the clerkship program students as they provide to their other summer associates. Each employer participating in the program must comply with all labor and employment laws relating to hiring a student through the program. Some employers may, in addition, provide an in-house mentor for their student. Periodic evaluations during the summer and an exit interview are expected. In addition, each employer must consider its clerkship student for an offer to return to work in the future, e.g., school year clerk, 2L summer associate, post-graduation, etc.

While registration for the Summer 2008 program has closed, if your organization is interested in learning more or participating in the Summer 2009 program, please contact the Chair of the Diversity Committee Marta M. Chou at (612) 349-8569 or mmchou@rkmc.com.
