Report and Recommendation on Avis Car Rental
Recommendation:
The MSBA should not renew the current contract with AVIS Car Rental.

Overview of Car Rental Program
Performance:
In the past three years (fiscal years 06-07, 07-08, and 08-09) the MSBA has received a total of $246.00 in royalties for the program. Usage of the program in the last calendar year has been minimal with 15 rentals equaling $3,230; our royalties for the corresponding time period were $146.00. (No data other than last calendar year available for usage, only 3 year data available for royalties). In addition, the discount for MSBA members is no better and in some cases less than what they receive through other affiliations.
Contract Renewal:
The updated agreement proposed by AVIS would not pay royalties for usage of less than $5000.00. Under this agreement it is not likely that the MSBA would receive any royalty payments. Due to the low usage of the program and lack of significant discounts it has ceased to be beneficial to members and the MSBA.
