After winning the Minnesota State Mock Trial Championship, Lakeville North High School represented Minnesota at the National High School Mock Trial Championship in Atlanta May 6 through 10. Lakeville North HS was named 2009 National Championship Runner-up.

Lakeville North won their first four rounds earning them a spot in the national championship round late Saturday afternoon. They faced John Adams High School from Indiana who was also undefeated at that point. Lakeville North represented the State of Georgia and was named National Championship Runner-up at the Saturday evening awards banquet.
Lakeville North is coached by teacher Susan Clark and attorneys Mark Vandelist and Lisa Vandelist. Students who competed on the team were: Anna Skidmore, Corinne Solheid, Melissa Cheney, Joshua Brogan, Luis Guitart, Max Eichenberger, Liz Korby and Marie Ferguson.
The National High School Mock Trial Championship, hosted this year by the State Bar of Georgia, is a challenging two-day event for teams who qualify to compete after winning their state competitions around the country, US territories and South Korea. Forty-two teams competed in four trials Friday and Saturday at the Fulton County Courthouse in downtown Atlanta. Scores were tabulated, and the two highest scoring teams advanced to the championship. |
