"Can the Judiciary be Saved? Can ADR Help?"

Budgetary troubles are seriously threatening the health and well-being of our Minnesota judicial system. What can be done? Abolish civil discovery? Raise the costs of filing yet again? Charge litigants by the hour? Send in legions of ADR practitioners to ease the load by effecting quick settlements via mediation, presiding as special masters, arbitrating conciliation court cases on low or pro-bono bases? In brainstorming solutions, no idea is too wild, so join us as our panel and moderator Mariann Johnson lead a discussion of what role ADR professionals may be able to play in ensuring the viability of our system of justice.

Panel:

Mariann Johnson (Moderator), MT Johnson & Associates
Madge Thorsen (Panelist), Thorsen Kaplan LLP
Patrick Burns (Panelist), Burns Law Firm PLLC
Gregory Bistram (Panelist), Briggs and Morgan PA
