The MSBA's Agricultural and Rural Law Section Presents
"Relocation Benefits and Minimum Compensation in Eminent Domain Proceedings Involving
Buy the Farm Statute"
This CLE will focus on issues related to Minnesota’s “Buy the Farm” statute, as reflected in ongoing eminent domain cases relating to large high voltage electric transmission lines currently under construction all across Minnesota. The implications of whether landowners are eligible for relocation benefits and minimum compensation under Minnesota Chapter §216E.12, subd.4, will be discussed in light of the recent decision by the Minnesota Supreme Court to grant the landowners’ Petition for Review in the case entitled, Aleckson, et al v. NSP, Inc. (d/b/a Xcel Energy).
