- On 9/1/2010, an attorney from our Section participated in a “law career” panel discussion hosted by Hamline University School of Law groups Phi Alpha Delta and Student Animal League Defense Fund.
- On 9/18/2010 I met for a luncheon with members of all four law school chapters of the Student Animal League Defense Fund to introduce them to the Animal Law Section and invite their participation in the group.
- On 6/4/2011, Section attorneys and law students will begin work on a new program with Minneapolis Animal Care and Control (MACC) called “Lawyers on Leashes.” This program will bring lawyers and law students together at MACC one or two times a month to walk the dogs kenneled at MACC. The “Lawyers on Leashes” program will benefit lawyers, law students, and MACC by: a) offering low-cost, low-stress mentorship opportunities for lawyers and law students; b) educating lawyers and law students about the work of MACC; c) supporting the work of MACC by assisting in enriching the lives of the animals in its care by providing them opportunities for exercise and companionship; and d) providing lawyers, law students, and dogs with much-needed exercise and unconditional love.
