The MSBA's Art & Entertainment Law Section Presents
Sign Your Heart Out: Weighing the Pitfalls and Profits of Reality-Based Talent Competitions.
Reality-based singing and talent competitions have become prevalent in the television and music industry. It is likely that a friend, family member, or client has auditioned for one of these programs. They may even have asked you to advise them as to whether the contract is “a good deal.”
This CLE will discuss the advantages and disadvantages faced by contestants of these competitions by examining and discussing the terms contained in contestant contracts, and what gains have been realized by past winners and contestants. We will also have a panel of Minnesota musicians who made it to the televised rounds of these competitions to discuss their experiences and the effects these shows have had on their careers.
Panel Moderator: Maxwell S. Felsheim
Lunch will be provided. Special dietary requests need to be received by Wednesday, January 4.
