Upcoming Amendments to Federal Bankruptcy Rules and the Bankruptcy Practice Committee’s Recommendations for Changes to Local Rules

Phil Bohl, Clint Cutler and Lara Glaesman will summarize the upcoming changes to the Federal Rules of Bankruptcy Procedure that will go into effect on December 1, 2011.
Among other things, their discussion will include the changes to (i) Bankruptcy Rule 2019 that expands the scope of disclosure requirements for committees and other groups in chapter 11 cases, (ii) Bankruptcy Rule 3001 that prescribes the supporting information required to accompany certain proofs of claim, (iii) Bankruptcy Rule 3002.1 which permits a chapter 13 debtor to cure a default and maintain payments of a home mortgage, and (iv) Bankruptcy Rule 4004 which permits a party under limited circumstances to seek an extension of time to object to a debtor’s discharge after the time for objecting has expired.
They will also discuss the local Bankruptcy Practice Committee’s recommendations to the Judges on the related Local Rule amendments.
Prior to the CLE, the section will hold its monthly meeting.
