Prof. Schaumann will discuss all things Google, with an emphasis on the legal issues raised by its forays into online video and book search.
Prof. Niels Schaumann , William Mitchell College of Law
Since 1989, Professor Schaumann has taught courses in copyright law, comparative and international intellectual property, business organizations, corporations, corporate finance and securities regulation at William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota. He has chaired numerous committees of the American Bar Association Section of Intellectual Property Law, and is a frequent author and speaker on topics in both copyright and securities law. Since 2007, Schaumann has served as Vice Dean for Faculty at William Mitchell.
Prof. Schaumann graduated cum laude from Fordham Law School in 1984, where he was the Managing Editor of the Fordham Law Review. After law school, he was a law clerk to Judge Lawrence W. Pierce of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and practiced law with the New York law firm of Cravath, Swaine & Moore, specializing in corporate matters including securities, mergers and acquisitions, and leveraged leasing. Before attending law school, he was a professional musician in New York City.
