The MSBA's Criminal Law and Immigration Law Sections Present

"Intersection between Criminal and Immigration Law CLE and Reception"

Please join your colleagues for an informative discussion on the current state of the law, and the serious issues that arise when immigration law and criminal law coincide. This CLE will bring you up to date on what criminal and immigration attorneys must understand about the significant consequences of criminal convictions for non-US citizens.

The presenters will guide you through the most crucial concerns in their respective areas, including:

* Plea agreements with a non-US citizen client - do's and don'ts
*Obtaining expungement orders – is this advisable when dealing with a non-citizen?
*Motions to Withdraw Guilty Pleas
* How non-US citizens' cultural assumptions and experiences regarding the police or justice system may cause difficulties
*Law Enforcement obligations in dealing with non-English speakers
*Non-English Speakers and the right to counsel

This CLE is a "don't miss" update of a very successful past CLE offered by the MSBA Criminal Law and Immigration Sections.
