What’s New on the Elder Law Section Website

Section members: Send your news and announcements of activities in which you’ve been involved both within and without the bar so that others in the section can read about what you’ve been doing. Postings should relate to elder law or pro bono activities. http://www2.mnbar.org/sections/elder-law/MembersInTheNews.htm

Section Members invited to participate in Section Committees, including the following New Committees. If interested in being appointed to a committee, contact Laurie Hanson, Chair:

  • Pro Bono Committee will work with existing pro bono programs and elder service groups to make section members aware of pro bono opportunities in order to expand thenpro bono services offered to elders.
  • Greater Minnesota Support Committee will work to provide opportunities for section members outside the metro area to benefit from section activities, to assist in networking opportunities and in recruitment of members outside the Twin Cities to serve in leadership roles.
  • Member Education Committee will review our current CLE offerings to develop seminars that better meet the needs and desires of the section members.

Other Section Committees: Strategic Planning, Nominating, Web-site, Newsletter, Medical Assistance, Legislative, Awards, Irrevocable Trust Review (MSA § 501B.895), By-laws, Law Clerk, Elder Law Institute Planning Committee.

Proposal for Amending Anatomical Gifts Act in 2008 Legislative Session.
The Probate and Trust Law Section Legislative Committee's Proposed Draft of the technical corrections to the Darlene Luther Anatomical Gifts Act can be found here. A summary of the technical corrections can be found here.

The Department of Human Services has updated its Health Care Programs Manual, which includes eligibility criteria for Minnesota health care and medical assistance programs and other important information. The new manual is available at http://hcopub.dhs.state.mn.us/hcpmstd/
