One of the most crucial and often problematic tasks facing a small firm practitioner is the care and handling of clients, from the first interview to the last letter.

With experience as an adjunct professor who taught client interview skills at William Mitchell College of Law, small firm practitioner Jacqui Dorsey is in a great position to help you identify crucial client relation skills and tools and practical solutions to often-encountered client problems.

This CLE will allow you to learn from colleagues through a guided, interactive discussion and a chance to test your skills in an initial "client interview". You will learn what intake procedures can help you determine whether a potential client should be kept or "thrown back", what specific interviewing skills you can utilize to gather the most information, and hear some drafting tips for the all-important fee agreement to help reduce client calls, or worse, fee disputes. You will discuss difficult situations that can arise during representation and how to ethically and effectively respond in those situations.
