The MSBA's Health Section Presents

Annual Legislative Preview

Please join your Health Law Section colleagues for our annual discussion of state health care related issues in the upcoming legislative session, just days before the session convenes.

Our panelists bring a breadth of experience in government relations, having represented a variety of entities in the health care arena. The discussion will provide an analysis of the forthcoming legislative debate concerning delivery and payment of health care in Minnesota. The current and future state of Minnesota’s Medicaid program and implementation of the insurance exchange will be discussed in the context of the likely legislative response. The Health Care Reform Task Force (chaired by Department of Human Services Commissioner Lucinda Jesson) and the Health Insurance Exchange Task Force (chaired by Commerce Commissioner Mike Rothman) have been meeting in advance of the session; the later anticipates submitting a list of deliverables regarding implementation strategies for the MN insurance exchange to the legislature by January 24, 2012.

This CLE discussion will help you stay abreast of and respond knowledgeably to developments as they occur during the session. With the general election loaming in the fall, the 2012 Legislative Session will certainly be intriguing and will likely affect your clients and your practice.
