The MSBA's Health Law Section Presents

On January 25, 2013, Health and Human Services published yet another final rule to implement the HITECH Act and modify many HIPAA privacy and security requirements, and enforcement authorities, including the following:

• Business Associate and Subcontractor Obligations
• Breach Notification Requirements
• Civil Money Penalties and Investigations
• Marketing, Fundraising and the Sale of PHI
• Genetic Records, Decedent Records and Others
• Use of PHI for Research
• Individual Rights to Access PHI and Request Restrictions

Ross D’Emanuele, Dorsey & Whitney LLP, and Susan Ziel, Krieg DeVault LLP, will provide an overview of the final rule and what it means for covered entities, business associates, and subcontractors. Please plan to join us and get to know the critical portions of the rule.
