Section Membership
As of June 1, 2012, the Immigration Section has 149 members.  This is an increase of 9 section members since June 30, 2011.

Financial Status
As of April 30, 2012, the Immigration Section had an account balance of $4,639.57 including investments.

Legislation and Amicus Briefs
The Immigration Law Section did not submit legislation proposals or amicus briefs in 2011 – 2012.

Annual Meeting and Election Results
The Immigration Section’s annual meeting and elections were held on June 21, 2012 at Pizza Luce in Minneapolis.  The meeting and elections were held in conjunction with a social and dinner. 

The following individuals were elected to serve as Section Officers in 2012 – 2013:

Treasurer:               Ruslan Bocancea, Bocancea Law Firm PLLC

The following individuals were elected to serve on the Section’s Governing Council from July 1, 2012 – June 30, 2013:

  3. Kevin Mosher, Thompson Coe Cousins & Irons LLP
  4. Matthew P. Webster, United States Federal District Court

Other Section Accomplishments
The Immigration Section has been working with Steve Marchese and Rinal Ray to explore establishing a legal hotline to match clients and volunteer lawyers on specific categories of immigration visas, with support from law students arranged by MJF.   As of June 30, 2012, the section is working through the logistics with the goal of starting the project in the fall of 2012.
