Labor & Employment Speakers Bureau
The MSBA Labor & Employment Law Section is in the process of launching a speakers bureau for members of the section. Section members interested in speaking at schools and community services events should click here for more details.

Nominations now being accepted for the Leonard Lindquist Distinguished Practice Award
The MSBA Labor & Employment Law Section invites nominations for the Leonard Lindquist Distinguished Practice Award.  The Section’s Governing Council established this award several years ago as a way of periodically recognizing Section members who have made an outstanding contribution to labor or employment law practice in Minnesota.
The Section’s Governing Council receives nominations and periodically selects the award recipient(s) based on the following criteria: 

  • A practicing or retired employment and/or labor attorney.
  • Minimum five years of practice.
  • Member of the MSBA Labor & Employment Law Section.
  • Contributions and service to the ABA, MSBA and/or county bar association.
  • Contributions and service to the legal community.
  • Contributions and service to the community at large.
  • Pro bono activities.
  • Demonstrated commitment to maintaining the highest standards of civility, morality, honesty and ethics in professional and personal activities.
  • Demonstrated commitment to improving the practice of labor and/or employment law in Minnesota.

If selected, award recipient(s) will be honored at the Section’s annual meeting and spring dinner, which takes place on Wednesday, May 19, 2010, at Windows on Minnesota.  Past recipients include: Leonard Lindquist, Honorable Lloyd B. Zimmerman, Mike Galvin, Rich Miller, Thomas Vogt and James Samples.
If you would like to nominate someone for the Leonard Lindquist Distinguished Practice Award, please submit your nomination on or before Friday, April 30, 2010. Please include with your request:

            1)         The nominee’s name, employer, email address and telephone number.
            2)         The nominator’s name, employer, email address and telephone number.
            3)         A short narrative explaining the nominee’s qualifications.
            4)         The nominee’s resume, if available.
