The MSBA's Labor & Employment Law Section Presents
"Minnesota Marital Status - March Madness?"
Marital status is the one protected class that includes every employee in Minnesota. Frances Baillon and V. John Ella will discuss marital status discrimination claims under the Minnesota Human Rights Act in light of a recent ruling by Minnesota Supreme Court. Minnesota's law on this issue is uniquely broad and this panel discussion will include perspectives from both the plaintiff and defense side. The panel will also discuss the U.S. Supreme Court's decision in Thompson v North American Stainless and retaliation claims based on the actions of a spouse or fiancé.
