Mediations
Collective bargaining disputes: In addition to representing the
government in grievance and arbitration disputes, over a period
of 20 years Ive mediated approximately 100-125 collective
bargaining disputes.
Employment discrimination: I recently began mediating as a panel member of the Federal Executive Boards Shared Neutral program. To date, I have completed one mediation under this process.
Familiarity and Experience with State and Federal Labor
and Employment Laws
My experience as manager of labor relations in the U.S. Postal
Service involves extensive application of federal labor and employment
laws. Although a government agency, the Postal Service is subject
to the National Labor Relations Act and other federal labor and
employment laws. My experience and familiarity developed over
20 years as a practitioner, advocate, hearing officer, and attorney.
My experience and familiarity with state labor and employment laws comes from moderate experience as an adjunct professor at two local universities. For over two years I have been teaching human resources management; labor-management relations; personnel administration; compensation; employee and labor relations; and occupational safety and health.
Other Factors Relevant to Ability to Mediate Employment
Disputes
I was recently certified by the Human Resources Certification
Institute in Alexandria, Virginia as a Senior Professional in
Human Resources (SPHR). This certification reflects extensive
knowledge and experience in labor and employment issues.
