10. You can get to know attorneys practicing in your area of interest by participating in one of the MSBA's 32 sections -- over half of which are free to students -- or volunteering for one of our committees. Does the term networking ring a bell?

9. MSBA membership shows potential employers your commitment to the legal profession. How's your resume looking?

8. You'll receive Bench & Bar magazine each month. Job openings -- not to mention lots of interesting articles -- appear in the MSBA's magazine in every month. Subscriptions are included with your membership.

7. The MSBA makes it easy to keep up with news about the legal profession by delivering a weekly web-based digest of newspaper and magazine articles linked to the original publications.

6. With its Court Opinions by Email service, the MSBA does everything but knock on your door and hand you the rulings by the Minnesota Court of Appeals and Supreme Court and the Federal District Court. You'll have to make an effort to miss rulings if you subscribe to this service.

5. You can rub elbows with State Supreme Court justices and assorted judges at special events and receptions sponsored by the MSBA. Have we mentioned networking?

4. You can get in on special group discounts on all types of insurance, from home and auto to universal life and major medical. Plus you qualify for discounts on car rental, credit cards, travel and much more in our MSBAdvantage program.

3. You can develop your professional credentials and social consciousness by doing pro bono work. The MSBA works with the Minnesota Justice Foundation and publishes the Directory of Pro Bono Opportunities. There are lots of jobs law students can take on.

2. www.practicelaw.org
The MSBA's new online practice aid is free to all members. practicelaw.org uses online technology to deliver the practice tools that lawyers use every day. These tools include:
--official court forms and rules
--templates for legal documents
--sample pleadings and discovery
--checklists and reminders
--articles, practice tips and advice from experienced practitioners.

Because it is online, practicelaw.org is linked directly to outside sources, such as cases and statutes -- something impossible to do in traditional publications. Since practicelaw.org online, members don't have to download or install anything; any member with Internet access has instant access to all of practicelaw.org.

practicelaw.org helps members deliver high-quality legal services more efficiently in the following practice areas:
--Family Law
--Appellate Practice
--Employment Law
--Law Practice Marketing

In addition, practicelaw.org now has free Uniform Conveyancing Blanks -- UCBs -- for real estate transactions.

1. It's cheap...really cheap! $30-$40 membership. Plus you receive free membership in the newly formed Law Student Section!
