"Tips from the Prosecutor’s Perspective: Basics of Criminal Law for the New Criminal Defense Lawyer"
This CLE will address the basics of criminal procedure in Minnesota, touching on initial appearances for all criminal offense levels; pre-trial issues involving search and seizure, stops, and identifications; plea negotiations; conditions of release; and sentencinghearings. It will also address several of the common mistakes new criminal defense lawyers make regarding interactions with prosecutors and proper courtroom decorum. Speaker Wendy Murphy brings six years of experience in various areas of criminal prosecution at the county and city attorney level.

Salvation Army Coat Drive
The New Lawyers Section is participating in the Salvation Army’s “Coats for Kids” drive. Bring a new or gently used children’s winter coat to the CLE on October 11 to support a worthy cause. Winter accessories like gloves/mittens, hats, snow boots or snow pants are also accepted.
Refunds will be processed for cancellation requests received in writing on or before noon on the registration deadline. Requests should be directed to the event contact person listed at the bottom of this notice. Cancellation requests received after this time are not eligible for refunds. You may send a colleague in your place if you are unable to join us and the registration deadline has passed.
