MSBA PROBATE & TRUST SECTION
Annual Report 2010-11

Membership: The Section had 1154 members this year.
Continuing Legal Education:
The section hosted or co-sponsored the following CLEs:
- The Annual Probate & Trust Section Conference June 6 and June 7, 2011 (attendance of 811)
- “View From the Bench” with Judge Quam, Referee Borer and Referee Maus, on November 19, 2010 (Event code – 150078)
- “Custodial Agreements and Guardianships for Minors” on October 6, 2010 (Event code – 148893)
Pro Bono/Volunteer Service Activities:
- Wills For Heroes continues to be very successful with future events scheduled as far out as June of 2014 with more than 4,800 Wills written to date.
- Our Section has filed an Amicus brief in the Greer Case.
- Our officers attended several receptions for the State Bar, e.g., new lawyers reception.
Website and practicelaw.org:
- The Section continues to support the practicelaw.org forms.
- Agendas and minutes continue to be published and other relevant documents are posted as needed.
Section Newsletter/Publication:
- A Newsletter was published twice this year with several articles and section news including legislative updates.
- The Greater Minnesota Study Group continues to have numerous participants each month.
Council Meetings: Held the third Thursday of the month:
September, October, November, January, February, March, April, May, and June (held June 8)
Annual Meeting:
The annual meeting of the Section was held at 7:50 a.m. on June 8, 2011 at the annual Probate and Trust Section Conference. At the meeting, new council members and new officers were elected.

Fiscal Status:
The Section finished the year with $21,126.18 as of March 31, 2011. We raised our dues from $12.00 to $20.00.
Miscellaneous:
The Section is in the process of reviewing a comprehensive overhaul of the Trust Code and potential adaptation of the Uniform Trust Act.
